Tom grew up in a small village called Lemgo in North Rhine-Westphalia. To pursue his bachelor’s degree in biotechnology, he chose to study at the Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule in Jena. His interest in bioinformatics grew during his thesis which was about identifying biosynthetic gene clusters in paleofeces. While he completes his master’s degree in pharmaceutical biotechnology he will assist Pierre’s group in metagenomics by developing bioinformatics pipelines.
Apart from his scientific work, you can find Tom running through the park or reading fiction books.
