Raed completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in pharmacy at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania. During his master’s thesis, he worked in the group of Professor Amedeo Caflisch at the University of Zurich on a fragment-based drug discovery project targeting the epitranscriptomic reader YTHDF2. Previously, he worked as an intern in the group of Dr. Norica Nichita at the Institute of Biochemistry of the Romanian Academy on new vaccine design strategies against the hepatitis C virus. He joined Pierre’s group as a PhD student in November 2023 and is mainly interested in ancient bacterial natural products.
