Hari completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Biotechnology from Amrita School of Biotechnology, Kollam, India. Then he went on to work as a Junior Research Fellow at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. There he worked on diverse model systems like tardigrades, mammalian cell lines, and various other micro-eukaryotes.
Hari moved from India to Germany during the autumn of 2020 (right in the middle of the Corona pandemic). He started in Pierre’s group as a Ph.D. student (JSMC fellow) in November 2020. His work is mainly about understanding various polymicrobial associations and the role of secondary metabolites in such interactions. He is particularly interested in visualizing how bacteria interact with each other and with other microfauna on structured surfaces.
Over the years, he was fortunate enough to carry out various interdisciplinary projects and also work with diverse organisms in the tree of life (from bacteria to mammals)
Outside the lab, Hari is interested in science communication, likes to travel, and does photography. He is also a part of CrossFit, Jena.
