Zhiyong Yin obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from China Pharmaceutical University and his Master’s degree in Medicinal Chemistry from Sun Yat-sen University, where he focused on drug discovery from bioactive natural products. He completed his PhD in Chemistry at the University of Bonn. His doctoral research centered on multifunctional enzymes in natural product biosynthesis, with a particular emphasis on terpene biosynthetic pathways. Using isotopic labeling strategies combined with enzymology, mutagenesis, and computational analysis, he investigated the mechanistic logic underlying complex terpene cyclization cascades.
In March 2026, he joined Pierre’s group as a postdoctoral researcher. His current research focuses on signal modifications in predator-prey interactions.
